🕙 11:30-12:45 _ Discussion І. How to stay afloat when nothing is certain: the experience of cultural institutions
The discussion would be more institutions-driven, focused on the risks both for the teams and for the funds. Ukrainian participants may tell rather about war experience whereas other participants may also tell about other challenges, including underfinancing and deprioritizing, but also the impact of heat waves on cultural tourism, climate refugees, and other risks in the future.

🕙 13:00-14:15 _ Discussion ІІ. Should we talk about survival only in times of surviving?
Does it become a destiny for a culture if a society is going through hardship, violence and life or death choices on a daily basis? Is it inevitable that survival became the one and only focus of that culture? Is it relevant to tell other stories? Is it moral? Are those other stories welcomed from outside, especially, if the drama is not that obvious: the survival of small languages or ethnic groups?

🕙 15:00-16:15 _ Discussion ІІІ. Small is beautiful. How to be a small culture in the post-imperial world?
Almost all “big” cultures are in fact post-imperial, the beneficiaries of the age of empires and maritime powers. The less lucky ones had to prove themselves, and still have. A country may be big in size, and even have a big economy, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into a stronger voice or a sincere public interest. However, there is a sad loophole to get to the cultural arena: a war (or other tragedy). (Balkan artists and writers may tell a thing or two about that.) At the same time, the power of money enables autocracies and kleptocracies to pay their way into the art and intellectual world.

🕙 19:00-19:45 _ Maze Without a Minotaur. Experimental choreography performance by Mariia Bakalo
«Maze Without a Minotaur is a journey fragmented by reflections, stories, and testimonies of Russian crimes against humanity. Family photos, a safety thread, a care-full net, and a fundamental question are laid bare. The ancient Greek myth of the Minotaur symbolizes an ongoing national violence perpetrated against the people of Ukraine. As long as the Minotaur keeps committing violence in my home, I will lead you through his labyrinth here in Tartu», — says Mariia Bakalo (Ukraine) about her experimental choreography performance.
This narrative draws the audience into the heart of the Ukrainian experience. The stories of past and present loss, despair, dreams, and perseverance are brought to light through the shared experience of roaming in the Labyrinth. Although not the most conspicuous driving force of the work, love dominates over criticism, provocation, and denunciation.

🟡 Presentation of the Ukrainian Cross-Section online platform
The Ukrainian Cross-Section online platform represents Ukrainian art based on the triennial of Ukrainian contemporary art Ukrainian Cross-Section. It is a collection of information about 5 editions of the project over 15 years in various European cities: Lublin 2010, 2013, Wroclaw 2016, Lviv 2019, Kaunas 2022. The resource contains exhibition concepts from different years, information about the artists who participated in the project and their works, and accompanying texts and catalogs.

🟡 Presentation of the essay collection UKRAINE! UNMUTED
The book UKRAINE! UNMUTED intends to open up Ukrainian culture to foreigners, to ruin the stereotypes about it. Some of the text authors are: Olena Apchel, Kateryna Botanova, Mykola Riabchuk, Vitaliy Portnykov, Zoia Zvyniatskivska, as well as Yurko Vovkohon — cultural manager and the military of the Ukrainian army, thinking about art and war as a «highly concentrated life» and how do people of culture being on war can convey this experience to others. The curator of the publication is translator, publisher, and author Oksana Forostyna. The texts are translated into Estonian by Anna Verschik, Margus Lattik (Mathura), and Ilona Martson.
