CSI & TIC Brno teams will work in such directions: organization and holding joint thematic events, implementation of projects and initiatives, exchange of information about cultural processes and cultural actors from both parties.

«In this way we show our desire and intention to develop two-side Ukrainian-Czech connections and partnerships in the field of culture. It is an opportunity for our cultural institutions, our cities and countries to be more visible to each other and on the cultural map of Europe, to develop cooperation and networking. This step symbolizes progress in previous interactions between Lviv and Brno, that is important particularly in the context of its application for the status of the European Capital of Culture 2028» – Yuliia Khomchyn says.

CSI already has its own history with Brno. In the summer of 2020, the director of TIC BRNO shared her experience of cultural life in Brno and the Czech Republic during the quarantine. In 2020-2022, our cities participated in the joint international project Modernism for the Future 360/365, the focus of which was the actualization of the modernist heritage of European cities. And in June of this year, the CSI director joined the Brno Cultural Forum: Crossovers with the presentation «Lessons from the front. Live from Lviv».

The signing of the memorandum is an opportunity for us to continue working together, share experience, implement joint projects, help each other become stronger, and present Ukrainian and Czech cultures in our cities and countries. It is also interesting and important in the context of Brno’s application for the status of the European Capital of Culture 2028, because CSI and the City of Lviv cooperates and has joint projects with ECoC cities, such as Wroclaw or Kaunas».

TIC Brno is a city agency for supporting tourism that (co)organizes and holds different cultural events, provides information services for the citizens and the guests of the city. The agency publishes city information, gastronomic and other guides, runs the Brno tourist portal, (co)organizes city events and festivals, takes care of several iconic cultural objects, popularizing them through lectures, etc. TIC BRNO manages a gallery and a cinema, supports the local audiovisual industry, promotes Brno as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, etc. The organization is responsible for the preparation of Brno as a candidate for the title of ECoC 2028: applying for this status and the status itself is an opportunity to start new projects and partnerships. We hope that one of the nearest projects will be our joint one, partnership project!)
