The head of Lviv\u2019s application for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030, Yulia Khomchyn, attended The 14th Culture Next Conference in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. This year, the conference brought together representatives from 50 European cities, youth delegates, local artists, and cultural organizations around the theme of \u201cCultural Participation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuliia was there representing Lviv, which is now competing for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030. In the format of a cultural camp, participants talked about youth participation in shaping cultural policies in cities, exchanged experiences, discussed how to make culture more open and inclusive, shared best practices, and explored ideas for joint projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Lviv, this trip was about visibility and having a voice at the European level, about new partnerships and collaborations, and about finding inspiration in the experience of other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Culture Next network exists to support current and former candidate cities for the ECoC title in implementing long-term programs and cultural policies. We\u2019re happy to be part of this community \u2014 and we truly hope that very soon Lviv will become a full member of this active and inspiring network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process of preparing Lviv’s application for the title of ECoC 2030 is supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
