\"\u26aa\ufe0f\" Does it become a destiny for a culture if a society is going through hardship, violence and life or death choices on a daily basis? Is it inevitable that survival became the one and only focus of that culture? Is it relevant to tell other stories? Is it moral? Are those other stories welcomed from outside, especially, if the drama is not that obvious: the survival of small languages or ethnic groups?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\ud83d\udfe1\" We will be in the company of speakers from Ukraine, Estonia, and Bad Ischl \u2014 Salzkammergut 2024. These are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U || Oksana Dovgopolova<\/strong>, a PhD in Philosophy of History, co-founder and curator of the Past \/ Future \/ Art<\/a> memory culture platform. The main areas of research interests: development of the new Ukrainian Language of commemoration in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Odesa image in \u201cmemory entrepreneurship\u201d, and the development of Odesa regional identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U || Berk Vaher<\/strong>, a writer, critic, cultural manager, and occasional DJ. He is the head of the Tartu branch of the Estonian Writers Union, runs Tartu Literature House and is a board member of the international literary festival Kirjandusfestival Prima Vista<\/a>. In 2023, he also authored the Tartu 2024 vision book Arts of Survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U || Tile von Damm<\/strong>, a political scientist and the head of PerGlobal, an independent, application-oriented research institute. He was in charge of evaluating and internationalizing the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl-Salzkammergut 2024 and managing various projects’ implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U || Moderator Oksana Forostyna<\/strong>, a publisher, translator, and editor. Opinion Editor at Ukraina Moderna website, a Visegrad Insight Fellow, and Europe’s Futures Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna (2022-2023). She contributes to Liberties, The European Review of Books, Krytyka, and Visegrad Insight. Over the years, she has curated thematic programs for the Culture Congress, the Ukrainian Cross-Section project, and the Book Arsenal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
