Modernism for the Future 360\/365 \u2014 an international project aimed at (re)thinking of the modernist heritage through art \u2014 covers 14 art residencies and thematic events in partner cities: Kaunas, Kortrijk, Brno, Lviv. The partners of the project: Kaunas 2022<\/a> (Lithuania), Intercommunale Leiedal<\/a> (Belgium), Vaizard<\/a> (Czech Republic) and Cultural Strategy Institute (Ukraine). The project is implementing with the grant support of the EU Creative Europe<\/a> programme.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the project is to actualize and reveal the potential of the architecture of interwar modernism through art. In the title of the project, the number 360 symbolizes all possible prospects for understanding modernism: cultural, political, economic and others, while the number 365 emphasizes the daily presence and attention to heritage in our lives.In the title of the project, the number 360 symbolizes all possible prospects for understanding modernism: cultural, political, economic and others, while the number 365 emphasizes the daily presence and attention to heritage in our lives. An important aspect of the project is the involvement of citizens in dialogue, openness and participation; because the city is formed bilaterally \u2014<\/strong> architecture affects the inhabitants and vice versa, the inhabitants of the architecture, each of which can be a source of memory, identity and creativity. Because everyone can increase the value of heritage!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a main MoFu line, 14 local and cross-border residences for artists were held in the partner cities. Also a series of discussions and educational events involving residents of modernist houses and interested citizens took place in collaboration with partners, researchers, coordinators and artists. In December 2020, the project partners launched for open-call<\/a> for local artists to interpret the modernist heritage in their cities and partner cities. Artists were offered various objects: not only those houses that are known to the general public, such as the former Prior department store in Brno, the Officers’ Chamber in Kaunas or the Trade Union House in Lviv, but also private houses such as Boguslaw Fuchs’ villa in Brno, Haverzicht’s Villa in Kortrijk or the Gallets Building on Kniazha Street in Lviv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, in February 2021, the Open Call selected artists whose ideas involve local communities in the dialogue. Than during spring and summer 2021, we had a unique opportunity to watch performances, media art, videos, photo projects in different parts of Europe \u2014<\/strong> follow the hashtags #Modernismforthefuture #MoFuLviv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
