The story “Responsibility to Be” has been shortlisted for the Responsibility Award 2025

The story “Responsibility to Be” has been shortlisted for the Responsibility Award 2025. The winners of the Award were announced on January 22.

As part of the Responsibility Award 2025, Responsibility to Be was shortlisted among the top three initiatives in the category “Interaction Without Borders: Ukraine to the World.” The financial award of 40,000 UAH from the Award’s partner, the Razom Foundation, will be directed toward the implementation of the municipal programme “Responsibility to Be” and will support one specific local initiative in Lviv.

The award ceremony took place on January 22, the Day of Unity of Ukraine, and was attended by representatives of the Cultural Strategy Institute and Lviv’s team in the European Capital of Culture 2030 competition — Yuliia Khomchyn and Anastasia Nechyporenko.

This recognition belongs to everyone who has been, and continues to be, part of the Responsibility to Be idea at different stages. At the core of this partnership story is Lviv’s journey toward the European Capital of Culture 2030 title, the experience of applying for this status, and the development of a municipal cultural development program approved in December 2025. It responds to the need to strengthen Ukraine’s agency and international presence through culture. The initiative was nominated for the award by the NGO “Virmenska 35.”

The Responsibility Award was established in 2021 by the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation. This year, its focus is on civil society organizations and their stories of responsible partnership that, through collaboration during the full-scale war, strengthen Ukraine and demonstrate responsibility at multiple levels.
