Інвестувати в культуру — означає дбати про безпеку: про #LvivCandidateCityECoC2030 на Іnvest Summit. Jazz Business

At the Invest Summit. Jazz Business, which was attended by more than 600 participants, including international investors, Ukrainian officials, and representatives of large, medium, and small businesses, Yulia Khomchyn presented Lviv’s application for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030.

This EU initiative annually gives cities the opportunity to implement an ambitious cultural programme with a strong European dimension. Lviv is the first Ukrainian city to ever take part in the competition. The team is currently working on the final version of the application, and the result will be announced in October 2025.

Yulia Khomchyn, Head of the ECoC bid and Director of the Cultural Strategy Institute, shared the history of the competition and Lviv’s concept “Responsibility to Be”. She explained why this programme is important not only for the cultural sector, but also for the country’s economy and global image.

She emphasized that investing in culture is an investment in resilience and security. Especially now, when culture in Ukraine has become part of the broader system of healing, support, and national security. The road to the ECoC title is also a platform for building a space of collaboration — where culture and business come together to shape a more human future.
